Thanks you for being the first person online to actually describe the pain as something other than "I had some discomfort" after having the surgery. Discomfort can be anything from stubbing your toe on a pillow or falling down a mountain face first. I think the dry eyes problem is like what people with allergies who wear contacts on blustery days experience, so that's somewhat more reassuring for me! Now to forget about the slicing, being BBQ-ed and eye flap parts :-O

What's the best way to look for referrals on surgeons? and as far as up-to-date equipment should you call the surgeons office to inquire about this?

[...] Random Brain Dump » Blog Archive » My Lasik Experience – I had 3 people inquire about my Lasik experience this week, so I figure I’d blog about it. Hopefully, my experience help these people in their decision making process. I first heard about it when I attended a talk on Lasik on campus when I was a UCLA undergrad. [...]

Did they tape your surgery so you can bring it home to watch it over and over and over? And make others watch it too and get grossed out? I had to sit through 2 sittings of the taped operations - it was a screamish moment when the cornea flaps were cut.

Thanks Rex, good feedback. The quotes I'm getting are over 4000 for both eyes for wavefront/custom lasik. So I'm saving up. Let me know if you hear of any sales.

Good write-up! Two things that concern me the most (during surgery) are: 1) me sneezing, and 2) the big-one (earthquake)
